Sweet Water, AL experienced a multi-zone hail event on September 6, 2026, in the late afternoon that produced hail up to 1.48 inches and moved along a concentrated storm track.

The National Weather Service issued two severe thunderstorm warnings for the event: one at 4:13 PM CDT reporting 0.75-inch hail and a second at 4:44 PM CDT reporting 1.00-inch hail. Field reports tied to this event are limited to the NWS warning sequence and radar-derived hail signatures included in this multi-zone aggregate. Claims and inspection requests from properties within the Sweet Water warning area should reference local inspection findings and time-stamped imagery for validation.
Prioritize on-site documentation and safety. Begin inspections at properties along the storm path where radar-detected hail signatures were strongest. Photograph roof surfaces at oblique and close angles, capture GPS coordinates and timestamps for each image, and note pre-existing roof age and conditions. Check vehicles, HVAC units, gutters, and siding for impact marks. Secure temporary tarps only after confirming roof penetrations and after coordinating with property owners and insurers.
Estimate repairs conservatively and itemize per component. Document granule loss on shingles, record dent patterns on metal components, and measure penetrations or fractures on skylights and glazing. Coordinate with insurers using time-stamped photos and inspection logs. Schedule follow-up roof moisture inspections if shingles show visible bruising. Paid users can access the Strike Map to view the radar-confirmed hail swath and the event’s damage zone.
