What Happened

Seventeen NWS alerts were issued for the Sheridan metro between 4:17 PM CDT and 7:56 PM CDT as the system moved northeastward. The alert sequence alternated between dual-polarization radar detections and NWS warning-only notices. Multiple dual-polarization radar reads reported hail signatures above 1.5 inches; several radar-derived alerts clustered between roughly 1.2–1.9 inches. A number of NWS-warning-only messages repeatedly flagged 1-inch hail signatures as the storm redeveloped in the early evening. The storm is still active and continuing to produce hail and scattered strong gusts as it tracks through the area.
