The storm began impacting the McDonald, TN area in the mid-afternoon and is currently active. NWS products include three separate alerts tied to this event. At 3:16 PM CDT the first radar-derived alert reported 1.23-inch hail based on dual-polarization radar detection. One minute later, at 3:17 PM CDT, a second radar-derived alert indicated 1.45-inch hail from the same radar analysis stream. In the late afternoon, at 4:49 PM CDT, the NWS issued a warning-only alert reporting 1.00-inch hail for portions of the metro area. The first two alerts are radar-detected hail reports.
