Naples, FL experienced a concluded hail event on August 5, 2026, producing up to 2.13-inch hail late afternoon into early evening. The storm produced a sequence of National Weather Service alerts and radar-detected hail signatures across the metro area.
The first NWS warning area was issued at 4:05 PM EDT for 0.75-inch hail. That alert was issued as a warning area only without a corresponding radar hail signature. The event intensified later in the afternoon. At 5:38 PM EDT the NWS issued a follow-up warning that included a 1.48-inch hail signature detected by dual-polarization NEXRAD radar. Radar returns showed concentrated hail echoes moving across the Naples metro during the late afternoon and early evening. The event is concluded.
Hail sizes reported in the warning sequence and radar detections span ranges associated with distinct damage mechanisms. Hail near three-quarters of an inch typically chips paint and causes cosmetic denting on soft metals and vinyl.
